James Arthur, brother of the Drum's own Sian , has triumphed in the X Factor final. He was named the winner after a memorable performance of the song Impossible.
The 24-year-old James beat Jahmene Douglas to take the title in front of a 10,000-strong audience at Manchester Arena, with millions more watching the ITV show live .
The Drum itself had backed James to win, as we explained in an article leading up to the show. Sian is a media sales executive with us. You could say we are chuffed for brother and sister !
James, from Saltburn, near Middlesbrough, looked stunned as host Dermot O'Leary announced the result . Asked how he felt, he said, "Wow!"
"I don't what to say," he added.
James's dad Neil is a Glaswegian and his mum Shirley's parents were Scottish.
He made it through to the final after Chris Maloney went out in last night’s first leg of The X Factor final.
James wins a recording contract. He will now release his winner's single, a rendition of Impossible by Barbadian singer Shontelle, in a bid to top the charts with a Christmas No1.
