Microsoft has begun an advertising push to publicise the merits of its forthcoming Windows 8 operating system with a series of online adverts.
The campaign aims to explain how simple tasks can be completed using the software, the most radical overhaul of the Windows software yet.
Four commercials have been released in the series which will introduce the new operating system, emphasise personalisation, detail app functionality and inform of its ability to improve efficiency at work.
Windows 8 launches on 25 October in New York and has been configured to work on both handheld devices and desktop computers.
Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has been openly sceptical of his own firms work however, pointing out that the split nature of its interface would be prone to sowing confusion amongst users.
Allen said: “The bimodal user experience can introduce confusion, especially when two versions of the same application – such as Internet Explorer – can be opened and run simultaneously. Files can also be opened in either of the two available modes."
