Collins Dictionary has published a list of 12 words which it claims played the greatest role in defining the character of last year, with ‘mummy porn’, ‘Gangnam Style’ and ‘fiscal cliff’ rising to prominence.
Ascribing a word to each calendar month the dictionary selected the YouTube friendly South Korean pop star Psy for his crazy video which became the most viewed ever in November.
In similar fashion March is signified by the term ‘Eurogeddon’, June with ‘Jubilympics’ and July was marked by Mitt Romney’s ill-judged commentary on a visit to Britain.
