Australian radio station axes show behind Duchess of Cambridge prank call – but presenters remain

The Australian radio station which broadcast a hoax call made to a London hospital, where the Duchess of Cambridge was being treated, has moved to axe the Hot 30 show which aired the call, according to the Daily Mail.

2 Day FM made the move to ditch the format two months after a joke call backfired with the suicide of nurse Jacinta Saldanha, prompting worldwide outrage.

However Mel Greig and Michael Christian, the presenters who made the call, will remain employed by the network.

In a statement parent company Austereo said the pair would be ‘returning to work when the time is right, in roles that make full use of their talents’.

Hot 30 was taken off the air in the wake of the media fallout from the affair last December.
