Ham & High removes reference to Leveson’s residence over ‘security risk’

Ham & High, a local paper serving the Hampstead & Highgate districts of the capital, has been forced to remove a reference to home address of Lord Leveson following complaints from the judge that it constituted a security risk.

The paper reported that Leveson had switched the focus of his ire from the media toward a neighbour who was intent on digging an underground swimming pool beneath their home.

Lawyers instructed by Sir Victor Blank, a former chairman of Lloyds and backed by a number of local celebrities including Richard Madelay, are seeking a High Court injunction to stymie the plans.

In reporting this the paper did not publish the name of the street nor the address of the property subject to the planning application (though it is public record) but nevertheless the Judicial Office complained that ‘a reference which identifies where a judge lives is a security risk’.

Following receipt of the complaint the paper removed reference to a main road in the area off which the judge resides.
