It has been revealed that Asda has withdrawn thousands of its own-brand tins of corned beef from shelves, after Leicestershire County Council said it found one batch containing 50 per cent horse meat.
According to Retail Week, the corned beef was made by French supplier Toupnot and is the eighth Asda product to test positive for horse DNA.
Asda said that internal tests only showed up to five per cent horse meat present in the corned beef.
Three beef products in Asda has also been found to contain pork DNA.
