Terminally ill doctor to live tweet final moments from deathbed

A terminally ill doctor has revealed plans to tweet her thoughts in the last moments before death after finding solace from her condition through humour.

Dr Kate Granger, 31, was told she was unlikely to see 2016 after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in 2011.

Rather than become depressed however Granger has turned to comedy as a coping mechanism, as evidenced by a selection of hashtags chosen for the venture including #deathbedlive, #going-goinggone and #onedieseveryminute.

Granger said: “I thought it would be quite interesting for everyone to understand more about what the experience is like for me. If my tweets about my death and what I’m going through make one person talk to their loved one about what they would do that’s a good thing.

“Positivity and humour help me get through the day and deal with what I’m going through.

“Having a good laugh always makes me feel better and I am absolutely sure that my positive attitude has helped me to remain well without treatment for such a prolonged period of time.
I really hope I can take the humour with me to my death bed and continue it right until the final moments of life.”
