Facebook has been cited as playing a role in as many as a fifth of divorce cases as suspicious partners take to social media sites for evidence of extra-marital affairs, according to a law firm.
JCP solicitors of Swansea, Wales, claim that 20% of the divorce cases they handle have been sparked, at least in part, by partners being trapped on Facebook.
Such online snooping is increasingly seeing love rats outed as their digital trail of texts, messages and calls becomes increasingly difficult to keep hidden.
JCP spokeswoman Christine Rawsthorne, said: “It used to be lipstick on the collar. But snooping on a partner’s mobile phone or catching them out on Facebook is increasingly becoming a more common way to track cheaters down.”
