Latest Ofcom digital TV figures show rise across the board in uptake of services

Incease: Digital TV is now broadcasting in 98 per cent of homes

The latest digital television figures from Ofcom reported in increase across the board in uptake of digital TV, with the number of households receiving the service now up to 98 per cent.

The data - the update for the last quarter of 2012 - reported three quarters of households watched TV over a digital terrestrial signal, an increase of 0.5 per cent, while a small rise of two per cent for subscription to pay TV took the figure to 54 per cent.

The number of free-to-view digital satellite homes rose from 2.04 million to an estimated 2.12 million year-on-year and 3.4 per cent of UK households used multichannel platforms - such as BT Vision - other than digital terrestrial, satellite and cable, a rise of 1.4 per cent on the same period the year before.
