Nicola Mendelsohn will leave Karmarama in July

Karmarama executive chairman Nicola Mendelsohn has been appointed as VP EMEA for Facebook, heading up Facebook across Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia.

The appointment sees Mendelsohn step down from her role at Karmarama which she has held for the past five years. Mendelsohn is set to relinquish her executive responsibilities at Karmarama in July, although she will remain as a shareholder.

Mendelsohn describes her time at Karmarama as “unforgettable and it will always have a special place in my heart.” She adds: “I’m proud to have been part of its story so far and I know that the team at Karmarama will continue to take the agency to even greater heights.”

Ben Bilboul, group CEO and Charles Watson, group chairman, will take over Mendelsohn’s management responsibilities with her marketing and business development responsibilities now being taken on fully by Hannah Matthews, group marketing director.

Speaking of Mendelsohn’s departure, Bilboul commented: “We’re thrilled for Nicola and hope that she achieves as much for Facebook as she has for Karmarama. Over the last five years she’s done an amazing job of raising the profile of the agency – and in particular building awareness of the quality of our work.

“With the task she set out to do now largely completed, she leaves behind a fantastic line-up of senior talent, and a terrific collection of clients and creative opportunity. We wish her nothing but success – and we’re delighted that she’ll retain an interest in the business.”
