Rights: Sky Sports will broadcast campaign qualifiers

Sky Sports has secured the broadcast rights for Euro 2016 and 2018 World Cup qualification matches for England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, it was announced on Tuesday.

Sky Sports will have rights for up to 500 matches under the deal, including all home and away matches for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The sports channel will feature highlights of England games during the campaigns and show full games if their opponents are any of the home nations. ITV has already secured the rights for all England home and away games.

Managing director at Sky Sports, Barney Francis, said: "Both the UEFA European Championship and FIFA World Cup are football's most important international tournaments and this deal offers Sky Sports viewers the complete qualification story.

"This year our viewers can enjoy The British & Irish Lions Tour, back-to-back Ashes Series, the ICC Champions Trophy, every race live in the F1 season, Super League, US Open & US PGA Golf, Andy Murray defending his US Open title and of course our biggest ever season of football."

Sky Sports is facing fresh competition for subscribers with the coming launch of BT Sport in the summer.
