Waitrose, owned by the John Lewis Group, has instructed its lawyers to act over its belief that the Ocado deal with Morrisons has created a conflict of interest.
A spokesperson for Waitrose told The Drum that it had asked to see details of the deal and the operating arrangements, while also confirming that it had instructed its lawyers in order to receive "a clear and unequivocal view" of the contract with the aim of finding any breach.
They added that due to the length of time the process would take, it was unlikely to make any further comment in the near future on the matter and revealed that plans to open a second 'dark store' were proceeding for Spring 2014.
Earlier today, the long proposed deal between Morrisons and Ocado,which will service the supermarket chain's online deliver service from next January, was confirmed.
