Glasgow 2014 has relaunched its official website in an effort to meet the increasing demand from users for more online options.
As well as an improved integration with Glasgow 2014’s social media channels, the site will be capable of supporting increased levels of traffic as interest continues to build.
The new website has also become more scalable to support key activities such as recruiting up to 15,000 volunteers and selling tickets for the Games.
A new content management system has further allowed Glasgow 2014 to deliver the latest news and updates on developments, campaigns, opportunities and events as soon as they happen.
Closer to the Games, the official website of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will further evolve and its focus will shift to support the provision of up-to-the-minute results and athlete information.
The project has been developed over the last six months and has resulted in what Glasgow 2014 believes is a more ‘dynamic website allowing it to interact and transact with the likes of potential employees or volunteers, ticket and merchandise purchasers.
Glasgow 2014 digital media manager, Paul Giblin, commented on the relaunch: “With the spotlight turning towards Glasgow 2014 as the next big sporting event in the UK, we needed a site that would reflect our intention to put on the biggest celebration of sport and culture in Scotland’s history.
“Our Digital Media and Technology teams have worked very closely with our digital agency to deliver a site that will give us the flexibility we need as our activities gather pace. There are so many ways for people to get involved and make the most of the Games and the website will act as an invitation to Join In and a showcase for all that is fantastic about Glasgow and Scotland.”
