A report investigating what men get up to whilst online has been published by blinkx, the video search engine, eliciting (amongst other nuggets) that males care more about their health and the environment than their careers or relationships.
The work was undertaken in a bid to understand how men behave and what types of marketing they respond to best whilst surfing the web.
This showed that the most effective way of reaching men online comes by way of the humble email and social media, with 18% stating that this positively influences their purchasing decisions.
These numbers nosedived for text message marketing (8%) and telephone calls (6%) however with most regarding it as a turn off.
Amongst the survey’s findings are that men are ‘inquisitive, social and like to shop’ with a healthy 79% using the web for ‘research’ whilst 57% harness it for shopping and 50% participate in online gaming.
