Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Manchester have already been given their own ‘trends’ for Twitter, but now Twitter users in Belfast, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, Portsmouth and Sheffield have been given the localised trends service
Twitter asked high profile users from each city to cover the announcement, with Green MP @carolinelucas and DJ @fatboyslim gave Brighton users the news, and Olympian @chrishoy and @edinburghfest announced the new service for Edinburgh.
The UK additions, which along with other locations can be browsed by clicking “Change” in the Trends sidebar, join 88 new cities from around the world including Yokohama (Japan), Istanbul (Turkey), Ottowa (Canada), Rome (Italy) and Melbourne (Australia).
