Out-of-home media partner Clear Channel has revealed a national, permanent high street mobile platform for outdoor media set to roll-out across more than 10,000 Clear Channel Ashel panels and digital roadside panels.
Initially to be equipped with both Near Field Communications (NFC) and QR code capabilities the platform transforms roadside advertising into an interactive consumer experience.
The opportunity offers advertisers the chance to deepen their interaction with consumers by introducing interactive content, social media integration and real-time content updates. Smartphone users will also be able to download vouchers and promotions. The platform will be supported by a full reporting network to help brands effectively track the responses.
Work on the platform is already underway in preparation for a full service launch in 2013. The new network will be focused on busy high streets and town centres across the UK, reaching over 80 per cent of adults every four weeks. Clear Channel will build upon its successful five year partnership with technology specialists Eagle Eye Technology who will help build the interactive mobile platform.
Matthew Dearden, Clear Channel chief executive, commented: “Clear Channel is constantly looking at new ways to enable brands to meet people. We’re very excited about the engagement opportunities mobile technologies offer to both advertisers and consumers.
“Mobile is the natural companion medium for out-of-home and this innovative platform builds on the outstanding audience and reach already offered by our market-leading roadside portfolio.”
Eagle Eye Technology CEO Ed Pippin added: “We are delighted to be working with Clear Channel to deliver this pioneering platform; we’re well versed in helping game-changing companies stay ahead by enabling them to overcome the technical challenges of bringing their innovative ideas to market quickly.”
