Yahoo! has launched an updated version of its Yahoo! Mail, which has been redesigned to include an upgraded Webmail experience, new native apps for iPhone/iPod touch and Windows 8, and an upgraded native app for Android.
After researching what users genuinely wanted from their email service, finding speed was a main priority, steps have been reduced to save time. When users log into Yahoo! Mail on the Web, it’ll take them directly to the inbox. The underlying performance has been tweaked so it’s faster to compose and read messages. After a message is sent, users are now taken back to the inbox. Webmail has further been simplified and the action buttons reduced – so users only see the ones they need.
Yahoo! have aimed to make to mail experience consistent no matter what platform is being used, yet is optimised for device and platform. For big screens, it is optimised for composing and managing. For small screens, it is optimised for monitoring and organisation. Upgrades for the apps on these platforms include:
Yahoo! Mail for iPhone: multiple messages can be selected and swiping left on any message will quickly delete, star, file or mark it as read. Infinite message scroll and the ability to search across folders lets users easily access the information they’re looking for. Attach photos or take new ones while composing a message.
Yahoo! Mail for Android: Redesigned for performance and battery life, this updated app has offered thumbnail previews of attachments, the ability to select multiple messages at once to easily organize the inbox, and support for multiple Yahoo! Mail accounts.
Yahoo! Mail for Windows 8: Users can see new messages arrive from the Windows 8 start screen and stay on top of new messages with notifications. Quickly scroll through messages, without reloading, and search across folders.
