Media engagement company Shazam has announced that UK entrepreneur Brent Hoberman has joined the Shazam board as an independent board member.
Hoberman will bring his experience of working with successful businesses to the role, including his tenure as founder and CEO of travel and leisure website, lastminute.com, as well as co-founder of PROfounders Capital, Mydeco.com and made.com.
Shazam CEO, Andrew Fisher, commented: “Brent has played a key leadership role in a number of the UK’s most successful digital and media businesses, shaping the strategies that has helped them lead their markets.
“As Shazam continues on its mission to lead the market for media engagement by providing consumers with the most efficient way possible to engage with content and brands Brent’s experience and insight will be invaluable.”
In the last two years Shazam has expanded its service in North America to include television programme and advertising. Shazam enabled advertising has now been launched in the UK and Europe, with further expansion plans in the pipeline. Hoberman’s knowledge of the European market is expected to be a major asset in the development and execution of these plans.
