Creative communications agency Initials Marketing has hired Sam Brownfield (pictured) as its first digital director and bolstered its experiential team with three further hires.
Brownfield, who joins from independent digital consultancy Tradewind, will be responsible for driving marketing and experiential activities for its clients.
In his previous role as managing director and founder of Tradewind he advised brands including Heineken, Britvic, EDF Energy, and Marks & Spencer on their digital strategies. Prior to this Brownfield was managing partner at marketing agency Liquorice for seven years, where he set up and managed its digital services.
Initials Marketing has also hired Tamsin Kon as senior communications manager to work across the UKTV and SAB Miller accounts, managing experiential and stunt-based activation around brand campaigns.
Prior to joining Initials Kon worked at Australian agency Evocatif Pty, where she worked across Kellogg’s, Nestlé and Kimberley Clark accounts.
The agency has also appointed Ellen Phillips as senior communications executive. She will work with the experiential team on Samsung, Miller Genuine Draft and Cadbury, reporting to director of Initials experience Chris Wareham.
Phillips was previously a freelancer for Sense Marketing Services where she worked for the Sainsbury’s Jubilee Family Festival at Hyde Park. Prior to this she worked at Arc UK / Leo Burnett, in its experiential team on its Kraft Foods and Tesco accounts.
Initials marketing has also recruited Eliza Johnston, who joins the marketing team as communications executive to work on its Sainsbury’s account. She is the first recruit to join the agency via its graduate work experience scheme ‘Class of INITIALS 2012’, which launched in April last year.
Director of Initials Experience Chris Wareham said, “Initials is structured around four interconnecting centres of excellence: experience, shopper, digital, and marketing. Sam’s appointment is a key step for us to help grow Initials’ integrated offering via his digital credentials.”
