The app invites people to upload pictures relating to that day's weather forecast

Wellington brand Hunter Boots has appointed social media agency We Are Social to deliver a global Facebook campaign.

Launching today (Monday 7 January), the campaign aims to raise awareness of the brand during a time where many countries, including the UK, are experiencing some of their most extreme weather conditions.

Both Hunter Boots’ UK and US offices are now working with We Are Social to deliver the “Together Through Any Weather” initiative which, through the Facebook app, offers fans a prize every weekday through to Thursday 31 January based on the weather forecast for that day.

Fans will be asked to create and caption a picture based on the daily weather theme and upload it to the app. Hunter Boots will then select its favourite image and award the creator with a prize suitable for the day’s weather conditions, for example wellington boots when it rains, or fleece socks if it snows. The app will be based on the London forecast using data from the Met Office though fans globally will be allowed to enter.

Hunter Boots marketing manager, Michelle Noschese, commented: “January is a key time of year for us, with people looking ahead to the rainy months to come, as well as coping with the current weather conditions…We Are Social has used this insight to deliver a campaign which will allow our fans to have a bit of fun with the weather.

“While Hunter Boots is a British heritage brand, which is why we’ve focused on London weather, we’re hoping that our fans across the world embrace this campaign and get creative with their entries.”

We Are Social account director James Lubbock added: “The app is based on the idea that wearing Hunter boots is the best way to help you cope with all weather conditions. We’re looking forward to engaging with Hunter Boots’ community throughout January and hopefully seeing some really imaginative and creative photos from all around the world.”
