The owners of Birmingham-based agencies the Unagency and One Black Bear have launched the first conversation agency in the Midlands alongside former colleague and former BYPY 2012 communications winner Amy Kiernan.
Backed by The Beorma Group owners Jon Harrison, Steve Price and Richard Elwell, the new agency, Shadow Giants, follows a trend already established in the US and London with Kiernan bringing to Birmingham an agency that is specifically focused on delivering engaging and continuous conversations between brands and their customers. The agency launches with clients on board in the areas of food, retail and sport.
The idea for Shadow Giants came while Kiernan was forced to spend three months at home due to a back injury, where she began to notice how the art of conversation was becoming lost, with brands regularly talking at their customers, not with them. This inspired the idea to create an agency focused on getting to know customers and finding the best way of communicating with them.
Amy said: “We can sometimes take for granted how lucky we are to live in an age where we are surrounded by endless communication tools, and launching Shadow Giants is my commitment to promoting the art of good conversation and the benefits it offers brands and organisations.”
Shadow Giants will be based in the Fazeley Studios offices of the recently rebranded Unagency, previously known as Unsuitable, which is celebrating its tenth year in business and its digital arm, One Black Bear.
Speaking of the launch Price said: “We’ve followed Amy’s career ever since we first worked with her and we’re really pleased to be supporting her in this exciting venture. Amy has a wealth of experience, passion and drive that guarantee Shadow Giants will be a great success.”
