Yamaha unveils 'Silent Sessions' video starring Jamie Cullum to promote its new range of silent pianos

To gain publicity for its range of silent pianos Yamaha released a promotional video featuring jazz musician Jamie Cullum.

The video, which shows Cullum performing silently on the roof of a multi-storey car park with just the Yamaha Silent SH grand acoustic piano and a pair of headphones for company, was devised by creative agency Man+Hatchet and directed by Giles Smith.

A Yamaha spokesperson commented: “We conceived and designed the Yamaha Silent Sessions to reach a wider audience and go beyond the traditional piano customer who we know well. We needed to punch through the established piano and music media and promote the benefits of silent pianos to people who perhaps don't think they can own a traditional acoustic piano.”

Cullum’s silent piano performance of his hit song ‘Love Ain’t Gonna Let You Down’ is the debut video of Yamaha’s new ‘Silent Sessions’ series, which aims to highlight the significant technological advances featured in the new range.

Speaking of Cullum’s involvement and the ‘Silent Sessions’ series, the spokesperson continued that having “such high profile artists and brand ambassadors such as Jamie Cullum” involved is a massive coup, adding “Jamie's video is only the first in the series and more are planned, our next silent session will feature new classical sensation HJ Lim."
