Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud artwork features Dulux's predicted Colour of the Year

To celebrate its prediction that Indigo Night will be the Colour of the Year paint brand Dulux has transformed Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts into a living canvas for a series of monochrome images.

The prediction follows research by Dulux’s global colour team which has been predicting trends for many years, helping inspire customers to renew their homes and their lives through decorating. An 18-strong panel of global colour and trend experts who specialise in different areas of colour use was brought together by Dulux parent company, AkzoNobel.

Collectively the team drew on social and economic influences exploring a broad range of cultures and industries including fashion, beauty and design, resulting in an annual trend forecast known as ColourFutures, which presents five key trends for the year ahead and one Colour of the Year.

Speaking about the chosen Colour of the Year, Indigo Night, Dulux senior global colour designer, Louise Smith, commented: “Indigo Night adds a surprising, elegant strength, with its deep, velvety quality offering warmth, reassurance and comfort to your living space. It's these characteristics that make Indigo Night a likely wardrobe and interiors favourite for 2013 and why we wanted to showcase this colour to consumers.”

Dulux has also revealed it is poised to unveil its 2013 campaign in spring and will continue to promote its ‘Let’s Colour’ key message through TV, print, PR and digital campaigns provided by BBH, MediaCom, Mischief and newly appointed digital agency AnalogFolk respectively.
