Sky agrees short-term exclusive broadcast deal with Warner Brothers to screen Harry Potter movie series

Sky has entered into a short-term content deal with Warner Brothers which will see Sky Movies become the only place for viewers to see all eight Harry Potter movies.

The three-month deal, which begins next month, will see Sky Movies broadcast the films over Christmas.

The films will also be available to view on Sky+HD, while the final film of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – part two, will also be broadcast on Sky 3D.

The movies will also be available to view through connected devices including iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones using the Sky Go and Internet TV service NOW TV.
A multi-year agreement between the two companies was agreed last month allowing Sky Movies to become the first subscription service in the UK to show other Warner Brothers hits such as The Dark Knight Rises, Sherlock Homes: A Games of Shadows, Dark Shadows and Wrath of the Titans.

Ian Lewis, director of Sky Movies said: “We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Warner Bros’. to deliver Sky Movies customers exclusive access to the entire Harry Potter™ collection, which will not be available on any other TV channel or streaming service this Christmas. To make it even better, Sky Movies customers can also enjoy the entire series of films on demand through their Sky+HD box, or watch them while they are on the move via their smartphone or mobile tablet.”

Josh Berger CBE, President & Managing Director, Warner Bros. UK, Ireland and Spain, added: “The Harry Potter™ film franchise is a uniquely British success story, one that was conceived and produced here in the UK with a largely British cast and crew and beloved by millions of people around the world. For the first time ever, Sky Movies customers can look forward to enjoying all of the movies in this record-breaking series in one place at one time.”
