The Virgin Media apology pokes fun at the apologies issued by Tesco and Burger King

With Tesco, Burger King and now Findus all embroiled in the great horse meat scandal, Virgin Media has decided to lighten the mood by issuing a spoof apology for promising films starring cows but instead showing horses.

In the style of the recent notices published by both Tesco and Burger King begging for forgiveness, Virgin Media’s apology begins: “At Virgin Media, we pride ourselves on delivering what we promise…But sometimes, we make mistakes, and when we do, we owe it to our customers to put our hands up and apologise”.

Virgin Media then goes on to offer its apologies to TiVo customers who may have noticed “that the [movie] collection, entitled #Mooovies which promised a rich selection of films starring cows, did in fact contain films primarily featuring horses”.

In a bid to drum up social media coverage the apology asks those concerned to Tweet using the hashtag #Mooovies and copying the handle @MoviesonVM.

“We would like to take this opportunity to mark the positive contributions that both cows and horses have made to cinematic and television culture from Black Beauty to Raging Bull,” the notice adds.

This is the second time the Virgin brand has been quick to jump on the bandwagon (no pun intended) after Virgin Holidays raised a glass to equal marriage as MPs passed the bill allowing same-sex couples to marry.
