James Harding, the former editor of The Times who stood down in December, is rumoured to in talks with Tony Hall, the incoming director general of the BBC, about taking a senior role at the organisation.
According to the Guardian, is has been suggested that Harding is being considered for the deputy director general.
Tim Davie, currently acting director general, said in an email to staff last Thursday saying that announcements about senior moves at the BBC would be unveiled shortly.
Harding left his role at the end of last year, suggesting that his leaving was at the request of Rupert Murdoch. A replacement editor for The Times has not yet been announced.
