The Sun's front cover reporting Reeva Steenkamp shooting prompts angry response

News International tabloid The Sun has caused outrage with its front cover reporting the shooting of model Reeva Steenkamp by Paralympian boyfriend Oscar Pistorius by featuring her on its cover in a bikini.

Labour MP Chris Bryant has lead the condemnation on Twitter of the newspaper cover featuring a bikini clad Steenkamp, tweeting “This is a simply despicable front page. It glories in domestic violence. @rupertmurdoch apologise (sic).

He would continue by asking his followers to complain to The Sun’s editor Dominic Mohan.

Bryant’s response was met with many similar tweets such as @chelseylouise09 who tweeted: “So #TheSun take the moral high ground by not printing a pregnant princess in a bikini,& instead print a murder victim in hers. Words fail me” and journalist Ben Bold who tweeted: “#thesun doing what it does best: flaunting its egregious lack of judgement, decency etc. paper by the morally bereft for morons.”

At the time of writing, Pistorius was set to appear in court for the first time following the shooting in South Africa.

Meanwhile, adverts featuring Pistorius were being removed around the world, including by Nike which removed one if its adverts from its website yesterday.
