George Osborne, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, has today sent his first tweet from account @George_Osborne, saying: ‘Today I'll present a Budget that tackles the economy's problems head on helping those who want to work hard & get on’, alongside a picture of him writing on a piece of paper with the traditional red budget day suitcase beside him.
The tweet was favourite over 40 times and received over 600 retweets, but also led to some condemnation on Twitter, with people asking if he was going to resign and asking him why he has time to pose for a picture.
The verified account has just over 9,000 followers.
