Apple appoints Omnicom Media Group’s digital chief to head up iAd EMEA

Apple has appointed Omnicom Media Group’s chief digital officer Paul Wright to the role of director of EMEA for its mobile advertising network iAd.

The Drum understands Apple is aiming to ramp up the mobile ad network and Wright will be responsible for driving the growth across EMEA.

Apple launched iAd in 2010 following its acquisition of mobile ad network Quattro Wireless for a reported $275 million, which it then renamed iAd. At the time of its launch advertisers were charged $1 million (£650,000) to run ad campaigns across the network.

However, the entry fee was subsequently reduced to encourage more advertisers to use the network, dropping to around $300,000, with the current entry fee understood to be around $25,000.

Wright has been chief digital officer of Omnicom Media Group for nearly a year and prior to that was chief digital officer of OMD Group UK.

During his career he has held a range of senior roles at BskyB including head of business development for Sky Media and latterly director of sales for Sky Digital Media stretching from 2006 to 2008. He was also member of the Advisory Board for Mobile Interactive Group from February 2010 to August 2011.

At the time of writing, Apple had not responded to The Drum's request for confirmation of the role, however It is understood he will begin in the coming months.
