Freeview has worked with Grand Union to relaunch its site

Freeview has re-launched its website introducing links to catch up on TV services from the main broadcasters such as the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

The re-launch follows the announcement that the number of homes using Freeview as their main digital provider has surpassed 11 million for the first time, visitors to the refreshed site will now be able to scroll backwards through an online programme guide, clicking straight through to content.

Other changes to the site includes personalised TV guides using customers pre-selected favourite channels, shortlists based on reviews from Reevoo, and an updated news and features page.

“Our TV guide is hugely popular and this update makes the user journey simpler and easy to navigate. Visitors will now have easy access to catch up content via our new TV guide, instead of having to visit multiple websites and all without the need for a subscription,” commented new media manager for Freeview, Adrian Mack.

In the coming weeks Freeview also plans to introduce richer pages for all channels, incorporating live streaming and catch up links as well as programme trailers, with all of the redevelopment works carried about by digital agency Grand Union.

Of the update, Grand Union’s business director John Goodbody, said: “As well as overhauling the site infrastructure, the key task for our team was to make the site easier for users to navigate. Approximately 250,000 people visit the online TV guide per month, so we have made it easier for them to find out what’s on as well as making the Freeview offer clear.

“The look of the new site is clean and contemporary and is an exciting launch pad for us to continue to develop new content.”
