Just a day after TeamRock, the content creation business, announced the acquisition of magazines Classic Rock and Metal Hammer, it has revealed that it will launch a new national radio station next month.
The station, which will run on Digital One from May, will not broadcast any spot airtime, it has said, as it intends to concentrate on partnerships, promotions and relevant sponsorship opportunities.
Content on the station is expect to feature a number of music programmes and regular documentaries dedicated to the rock genre.
Billy Anderson, chief executive of TeamRock (pictured), commented: “Spot advertising on genre specific radio stations is an outdated model. Instead, the opportunity is much more broader. While TeamRock is a much wider business, radio will play an important role in our development. This station will be specifically targeted at a community we know is both passionate and valuable. We will name the radio team in due course.”
Anderson, former regional director of GMG Radio will head up the company alongside for GMG Radio chief executive John Meyers.
