Microsoft has revealed a new version of Skype for Windows 8 ahead of the launch on October 26.
The partnership has “focused on how consumers are using Skype today” and has aimed to re-imagine Skype for everyday communications.
Skype can now be downloaded from the Windows Store, and appears on the new Start screen as a live tile. As well as being the launching point for the Skype experience on Windows 8, the Skype live tile has provided a window into the app, showing users a missed a call or new messages.
The new version has included a new dial pad as well as recent chat messages and calls becoming available as you launch Skype. There is also a new display window showing how much Skype Credit you have along with active subscriptions on a user’s account.
The Snap Skype feature has allowed users to Skype side-by-side with other Windows 8 apps or to browse the web, photos or use maps.
In addition, Skype has also partnered with the Windows 8 People app, the cloud-powered address book, which allows users to add contacts, pin important contacts to the home screen for quick access and follow contacts Twitter and Facebook updates.
