The Landmark Trust launches film-making competition to celebrate new website

Building conservation charity The Landmark Trust is calling on budding film-makers to submit short films depicting what they like best about staying in a Landmark to celebrate the launch of its new website.

Competition entries will be posted on both The Landmark Trust’s YouTube channel and website with the winning video receiving £1,000 worth of holidays in Landmark Trust buildings.

The new web presence, built by Yucca, features new photographs of all 195 Landmark Trust buildings, an ‘Our Landmarks’ section focussing on each building’s history and backstory, and a new online payment section.

The website includes extensive research on each of the buildings rescue and restoration as well as the events they have witnessed and information of the people who have occupied them. Before and after pictures of each Landmark site have also been added to the site for the first time.

“Landmark is a very special organisation being both a building preservation charity and a provider of extraordinary places to stay. We wanted the website to inspire people to book a holiday, but also to raise awareness of our work saving historic buildings at risk. With a wealth of amazing structures, from a pineapple shaped gatehouse to an ornamental pigsty, we focused on using emotive and atmospheric images to bring our buildings alive. In a competitive market we think our website, like our buildings, is now the best in the business,” commented Dr Anna Keay, director of The Landmark Trust.

Yucca creative director, Rob MacNeill, added: “Our task was to communicate the scope of such an extraordinary cause. Existing ‘Landmarkers’, we hope, will feel the site delivers everything they would expect from an organisation they feel closely connected to. For potential new customers and supporters, we hope it provides a window into a unique and beautiful experience. Initial feedback and results have been very positive.”
