Hearst Magazines has announced the appointment of Troy Young to the newly created role of president of digital media.
Young, previously president at Say Media, will be in charge of digital content, technology, operations, product and business development strategies for the online brands of the media division.
He will report to Hearst Magazines president David Carey, who said: “Pure-play digital companies and agencies move at warp speed, and Troy has been an integral part of that landscape since its inception.
“He’s incredibly strategic and will bring the pulse of a start-up to our world-class brands, focusing on content quality, velocity and accessibility on all platforms, as well as developing our video storytelling and creating new revenue streams. Big companies increasingly need to think and act like early-stage businesses, quickly iterating products, and Troy's pure-play experience will enable Hearst to accomplish that.”
Young will begin his new role on 13 May.
