The Sony Radio Awards 2013 were handed out last night with Absolute Radio's Christian O'Connell being named Music Radio Personality of the Year with the Gold Award, beating Lauren Laverne and Ken Bruce who took silver and bronze respectively.
The awards also saw BBC Radio 4's Today Programme named as the Gold winner for Breakfast Show of the Year (10 million plus) and Sam & Amy on Gem 106 pick up the Breakfast Show Gold in the under 10 million category.
UK Station of the Year was won by BBC Radio 5 Live and UK Radio Brand Gold won by Classic FM. Station of the Year (1million plus) was handed to Metro Radio and newsman John Humphry's won the Gold Radio Journalism of the Year prize for his interview with former BBC director general George Entwistle.
Gold winner for Best Music Programme was Dermot O'Leary's BBC Radio 2 show and The Danny Baker Show won Gold in the Best Entertainment Show category.
The On-Air Marketing Awards saw The Christian O'Connell show win Gold in the Best Use of Branded Content category and Best Promotional/Advertising Campaign went to The Gothic Imagination on Bbc Radio 4. Best Station Imaging Gold went to BBC Radio 2 and Best Competition was named as Coca-Cola Fan Reporter which ran on TalkSport.
Voted the UK's favourite radio presenters and winning the Aony Golden Headphones this year were Dan & Phil, while The Gold Award was presented to Steve Lamacq and The Special Award to industry veteran Richard Park.
