Virgin Media has launched Virgin TV Anywhere, a new ‘cloud-based’ entertainment service for Virgin TV customers.
Virgin TV Anywhere allows customers to watch Virgin TV content on computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones. The service takes advantage of Virgin Media’s home entertainment services, and can be enjoyed across the UK, including the on London Underground by using Virgin Media’s public Wi-Fi.
Embedded with social media functionality Virgin TV Anywhere allows users to share their thoughts on their favourite TV shows. Virgin Media has also developed a new app for mobile and tablet and released a new online destination for PC and laptop users.
Available to Virgin TV customers at no extra cost, Virgin TV Anywhere comes with the ability to stream live TV depending on a customer’s TV package and method of access. 45 channels are available at launch covering entertainment, kids, sports, news, music and movies, premium channels such as Sky Sports and Sky Movies are also available for subscribers of these channels.
There is also 4,000 hours of On Demand content, including Sky On Demand, featuring shows from Sky 1 and Sky Living. The service also includes integrated access to catch up TV including BBC, ITV, 4oD and Demand 5.
