The BBC has vowed that this year’s Children in Need will be “even bigger and better than ever,” despite the obvious issues it has faced over the last few weeks.

Friday night’s annual entertainment spectacular will likely be seen as a litmus test to measure the public’s support for the corporation with BBC executives tasked with keeping a close eye on the public response to the programme.

Sir Terry Wogan returns to host the telethon alongside Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton, guests on the night include One Direction, Leona Lewis, Olympic and Paralympic champions, and the newly-reformed Girls Aloud, who will perform the official Children in Need single. The programme will also feature special editions of BBC favourites Strictly Come Dancing, Top Gear and Doctor Who.

A spokesperson for the BBC commented: “Our aim this year, like every year, is to raise as much money as possible and we are on track to raise millions to help change lives of disadvantaged children across the UK.”

The Drum readers can donate to Children in Need now by using our special “Pudsey Button”.
