Turkish Airlines has launched a taxi advertising campaign with Ubiquitous with the aim of promoting its sponsorship of Manchester United Football Club and raising awareness of the brand.
As well as taxis in Manchester, the airline has also book 130 branded taxies in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Cengiz Turksoy, Manchester sirector for Turkish Airlines, said: “The opportunity to talk directly to the public within the city environment is crucial for a business such as ours. In Manchester, where the audience consists of people who come into town for sport, business, music and culture, it’s necessary for us to maintain a consistent brand presence in the heart of the city, but in a way that doesn’t restrict us to specific locations, such as shopping malls, the airport or train station; taxi advertising presents us with the perfect solution to this.”
The campaign shows Turkish Airlines promoting routes to Africa, Middle East, Far East, India, China and Asia from the UK in a bid to inform potential passengers before they book their next flight.
Micky Harris, director at Ubiquitous, said: “Without people, taxi drivers don’t make money, so by their very nature cabbies proactively follow the crowds and circulate in high footfall areas. From a brand point of view this means that your ad is a highly effective ‘moving billboard’, working hard for you day and night by placing your message at all the key destinations frequented by the domestic and visiting population.”
