Timing is everything on different social networks

Intelligent advertising company RadiumOne has drawn data from over 10,000 publishers using its po.st tool to discover the peak times consumers are most active and sharing content across social media.

The data has been compiled into an infographic (shown below) which reveals sharing activity on social networks peaks between 10am-12pm and 8pm-10pm, as workers go on lunch and get home from work. The UK, however, showed an unusual sharing spike at 6pm, when many commuters clock-off and head home.

The data also uncovered that the peak time for Twitter use is at 1pm, whereas Facebook is busiest at 5pm. Google+ and email are best for early birds with peak times for both being 10am and 7am respectively. Pinterest is best for catching night owls with its sharing peak not hitting until 11pm.

Just as the networks differ in peak times, the devices used also show variations with mobile busiest at 10pm, tablet at 1pm, and computers at 9pm.
