Kronenbourg has unveiled its new ad starring former Manchester United and France footballer Eric Cantona.
‘A Taste Supreme’, created by Ogilvy & Mather, shows Cantona paying a visit to the “hero hop farmers of Alsace” in France, where the Heineken-owned Kronenbourg 1664 hops are sourced.
In the ad Cantona finds his fame cannot be used as a bargaining chip as the local hop farmers have all attracted supermodel wives and are dodging the attention of the paparazzi themselves.
The multi-million pound campaign, which debuts on 4 February, sees Cantona relegated to the bench, as he realises “the hop farmers are treated like the footballers of Britain”.
Queen’s ‘We Are the Champions’ is used as the soundtrack to the ad which ends in Cantona being asked by an attractive woman if he too is a farmer, to which he replies “Of course. Oui”.
