The Hits Radio, part of Bauer Media, has launched its third annual Student Star competition, searching for the best upcoming radio talent.
Run in association with the Student Radio Association, the winners of the Student Star 2013 search will be given the chance to present two shows on The Hits Radio, as well as one-to-one coaching from What Goes On Media.
“We are delighted to be able to offer such a unique opportunity to student radio presenters for the third year running and we look forward meeting the exciting talent that we know is out there. Student radio plays a vital part in the industry and we are proud to support it, so let the competition begin,” commented programmes manager at The Hits Radio, Paul Fernley.
Entrants will be judged in two categories, Best Male and Best Female, with entries open until 9pm on Tuesday 26 March. Participants need to submit a five minute audio file demonstrating their presenting skills via the competitions dedicated website, the winners will then be announced at the 2013 National Student Radio Conference in Leicester, taking place on 2-4 April.
Chair of the Student Radio Association, Fred Bradley, added: “We're really excited about this year's competition, it's a 'must' for every budding presenter out there. The Hits Radio has always been a fantastic supporter of what we do at the Student Radio Association, and this is another example of how the team continually look for the best student stars to shape the future of their radio station.”
What Goes On Media director Kate Cocker said the competition offers an “opportunity to gain on air experience on a national station combined with bespoke coaching which is invaluable”.
