Showbiz gossip website Popbitch has announced it is to launch a paid-for online magazine in May.
The paid-for offering will take the form of an app that will be produced on a monthly or twice-monthly basis, running alongside the online celebrity gossip site and weekly newsletter.
Adam Curtis, who is best known for BBC documentaries The Mayfair Set, The Power of Nightmares and The Century of the Self, will make a creative input to the digital magazine and has created an online video for the launch and its Kickstarter funding initiative which is aiming to raise £25,000 for creative projects.
Co-owner of the site Camilla Wright has said that contributors to the fund will get rewards including party invites and membership to a founders club.
Wright is quoted as saying: "To have good journalism you have to pay for it, it's as simple as that. Good longform journalism and proper investigations cannot be made for free. There is less money in journalism and we want to use the skills of people who are well trained and experienced and need outlets – both world-famous names and so-far unknown talents."
