Following a blog by Holly Brockwell, Hyundai has admitted that a controversial ad, featuring a man failing to commit suicide because of the emissions from his car, was not meant for advertising purposes.
Ian Tonkin, product and corporate PR manager, said to Kat Brown, commercial projects editor at The Times, that the video was not used "with the intention of advertising and marketing".
In a transcript published on Twitter by Brown, Tonkin said that the video has been taken down from the official Hyundai channel and will not be used again.
The Drum is waiting for a comment from the Hyundai press office.
