Partnership: BT and Press Association have agreed a deal

BT and the Press Association have agreed a deal which will see PA create news and editorial content for a relaunched BT website in June.

The phone and web provider said the new site would feature exclusive editorial material, video and picture content covering news, entertainment, technology and lifestyle. The site will also feature "exclusively live" content from BT Sport, which also launches in the summer.

PA's managing director, Tony Watson, said: "The agreement with PA and BT represents a significant moment in our evolution from traditional content supplier to provider and manager of multi-platform content and solutions.

"Our position at the heart of the UK media industry enables us to provide and manage a high level of premium content for BT and we're delighted they have chosen to work with us."

Warren Chrismas, managing editor of PA's dedicated BT web team, added: "We’ve assembled a team of 12 highly experienced digital editors who will create and manage compelling content across news, entertainment, technology and lifestyle channels. Working at PA, we’re very fortunate to have incredible resources at our fingertips."

BT recently announced Channel 4 had secured a three-year ad sales contract for its BT Sport service, which will feature sports action from Barclay's Premier League, the Scottish Premier League, Europa League and German Bundesliga, as well as rugby union action from the Aviva Premiership. The new service has led to a spat with Sky as BT expands services.
