US based crows-funding website Kickstarter has launched in the UK, allowing inventors and developers to generate funds for their start-ups.
The US branch has had notable investment projects including Ouya which developed an Android based games console, and claims it has helped start-ups and inventors raise over $340 million. As such, Kickstarter hopes that the UK operation will do the same for inventors and developers here.
One of the first UK projects seeking funding is The Picade project which manufactures desktop arcade cabinets for Raspberry Pi boards, which people can build from a kit at home.
Another project which landed on the site today comes from A Good & Proper Tea which is aiming to exchange the murky, milky and lukewarm cuppa offered up from most to-go shops for well flavoured teas.
The site operates on a 5% commission on each successful pledge.
